MAME Cabinet Complete

Our “Keep The Change” MAME cabinet has been completed since the end of December, however we felt we should post at least one picture of the finished project. We will be posting autocad / sketchup files, a full parts list, software configurations, and a complete write-up in the next couple months (other projects getting in the way). If you can’t wait a couple months, feel free to ask questions in the forums.

GMC and Kyle visit

Recently we were visited by some road tripping makers who went by the names of GMC and Kyle one Saturday evening in early November. They shared many stories of their adventures across the US with us, and we shared our hackerspace with them. There’s some discussion of their visit in our forums for those who are interested, as well as a picture of the two below. Thanks again for making us a part of your hackerspace road trip experience!

Make:Provo Reminder

Just a friendly reminder to everyone that we are now holding a Make:Provo meeting every Saturday from 4PM to 8PM, followed by Game Night until we feel like going home. Be sure to check the Calendar page for any last minute changes to hours or scheduling before you come down. Everyone is welcome, so bring your projects, ideas and friends down to meet with your local hacker/maker community. We already had a couple new faces last week, and hopefully we’ll see many more in the future.

Below you should find posts of our more memorable moments as we ended 2010 here at the Transistor. We look forward to another great year of projects, making hacking, and having a jolly good time, and we hope you’ll all come down and be a part of the wonderful Utah hackerspace scene. Also, keep an eye out for an update in the near future about our recently completed MAME cabinet design and build. We’ll be posting our plans so you can make one too!

Introducing the Gorduino!

Peoples of the Internet, the Transistor is happy to introduce our first official board design release: The Gorduino. Designed by tT member Gordon Cooper, it is our favorite way to build a quick prototyping board out of one of our Minimalist Arduino Kits. Head over to the Project Page for schematic downloads and look below for pictures of the first production run of the Gorduinos.

Spooky Mummy Drink Dispenser

For our Halloween party this year Deven and Gordon decided to make a spooky drink dispenser. It featured a mummy and a cannibalized water cooler/heater jug assembly. We routed the hot pipes separately from the cold and served hot cider and cold punch. These are some of the build pictures.
