Come on down and learn the secrets behind OpenVPN.
This class will assume that you know how to access a linux server via ssh and run simple bash commands.
You are welcome to bring a laptop to follow along. If you would like to set up a VPN, you will need to either have access to an external Linux Box, or be prepared to spend $10 to order a VPS. Note: The VPS is NOT through The Transistor, you will need to bring a credit card.
The goal of this class is to have everyone leave with a VPN connection of their own.
“NetHack is a single-player roguelike video game originally released in 1987.” Grab your laptops and get ready for a sweet “learning night” as we get a good in-depth instruction on how to use this valuable IT tool. ;)
Please bring a laptop to follow along if possible.
Done “learning” NetHack for a minute? Good, we have another valuable IT pastime. Dwarf Fortress. That’s right, bring your laptops down for a night of “valuable learning”.
Another milestone as we move our Provo location to Orem. :) Unfortunately no public events are planned for November as we build out / set up in our new space; but we do have some great things coming in December / January to kick off this new space. :D
Members, come help us move into the new Orem space. Bring your trucks / vans / cars and lets get this over with. We’ll also be setting up and doing some basic organization in the new space. See you there!
During this 1/2 hour you can count on the following:
- We will be frantically scrambling to set up for the classes that should have been setup hours before.
- We will try to take the time to go around to room and introduce everyone.
- If anyone would like a tour of the hackerspace, this is the time to ask.
- If anyone has a project to show off, this will be the time to show it off. We will try to go around the room and give each person a couple minutes to show off any current projects they wish to bring down.
- If everything goes well, the first class will start at 6:30. :)
Please contact us (see the Contact Us page) with any questions / comments / suggestions.
Public Event:
Was there a talk at Defcon that you may have missed because you were passed out in the HHV? It happens to the best of us. Well, this is the night you can make up for that. There has been a poll up on http://dc801.org for a little while asking you what Defcon talks you would like to see. Tonight is the night where we do that. Bring some beer, popcorn, and some cookies because this will be fun!
Public Event: Come down and learn the age-old DEFCON tradition of lockpicking. Presented by DC801. You are welcome to bring your pick sets and locks if you have them.
