Tim’s Super-Basic Intro to Electronics Class
We’ll cover exciting topics such as:
-What is electricity?
-How to read Electrical Schematics
-Voltage and Current
-How to use a Multimeter
-Basic Circuit Building and Testing on a Breadboard
-Ohm’s Law
-Kirchoff’s Current Law and Kirchoff’s Voltage Law
Kits will be available for $15 with all the components you’ll need to build things and test things (except the multimeter, but we’ll have some spares lying about for you to use), as well as a breadboard.
Kit Contents:
-(1) Battery Connector
-(1) Solderless Breadboard
-(10) 150 Ohm Resistors
-(10) 220 Ohm Resistors
-(10) 10k Ohm Resistors
-(5) LEDs
-Assorted Jumper Wires
If you have all this stuff (resistor values can vary a bit without any real problems), feel free to attend the class and not buy a kit.
Please bring your own multimeters if you have them. If not, you can get a functional one at Harbor Freight for around $4.
We will be getting together under the guise of UFSUG, or Utah Free
Software Users Group the first and third Thursdays of each month. The
focus of these meetings will be to further knowledge of and practical
use of free and open sourced software in the context of an administer
of said software.
The fourth Thursday will be just to gather and discuss questions. And
most importantly, to give us a place where Bro’s can be Bro’s ( the
non-gender specific P.C. Bro that is).

“A hands-on introduction to the Lua language, and we’ll be using it in the context of writing a simple 2d graphical game. Although it’s the most common scripting language in the game industry, it’s also the scripting language of nmap, wireshark, and many more.”

Come down every 2nd Thursday Night and Learn a New Programming Language.
We’ll start with a 30-60 minute presentation on how the language works, syntax, history, IDEs, etc.
After the presentation finishes you’ll have a couple hours to build something with your new skills, ask questions, etc.
We recommend bringing a laptop to follow along and participate.
